Laser Powder Bed Fusion

Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) is an metal additive manufacturing process that involves selectively melting metal powder with a high power laser. Complex parts can be precisely built with subsequent layers of powder.  Our research is focused on improving the control of build parameters through an open loop control architecture, combining state of the art meltpool monitoring, mechanical testing, and machine learning.
